Overview

Student participants in the Next Step Program must be registered and paid participants of Conference 57 and pay the Next Steps registration fee in order to be eligible for the auditions and interviews. A limited number of scholarships are available for students who need financial assistance. Conference 57 Next Step Audition and Interview Information

Next Step Auditions and Interviews provide students with the opportunity to audition and/or interview for professional and educational performance companies and programs. Students who are interested in performance opportunities should select “audition” on the registration form and follow the instructions found under “Audition Expectations”.  Students who are interested in Design, Tech, and/or Stage Management opportunities should select “Interview” and follow the instructions found under “Interview Expectations”.

The Interviews and Auditions will take place on Saturday, February 15th and students must sign-up for a slot (audition and/or interview) no later than 7PM Thursday, February 13th. Sign-up sheets will be available onsite near the registration desk.

Audition Expectations

Resume & headshot online

Prepare :60 or :90 second audition

Arrive at least 15 minutes prior to your audition block

Attend the Professional Response to get feedback on your work

:60 audition includes your choice of 1-2 monologues contrasting in style, character type, or mood

:90 audition includes your choice of 1-2 monologues and a cut of song. Status of Accompanist TBA.

DTM Interview Expectations

Resume & headshot online submissions:  Submittable

Prepare to interview for 7 minutes with each Company and School Recruiter

Arrive at least 15 minutes prior to your interview block

Follow up with each of your prospective interviewers by email

Company and School Recruiters will review portfolios and provide professional feedback. Be prepared to find out about them as well as revealing your interests and skills.
